Your Bathroom Statement

Updated on August 31, 2016

Should you worry about what your bathroom says about you? Think about what it says to you? You probably spend a good deal of your time there on a daily basis. For most people, their bathroom is the first place they go in the morning, and the last place they go each night.

Decorating your bathroom may be one of the most important things you do in life. You alone will determine whether it is a place you want to get away from as soon as possible, or if it is one of your favorite retreats.

Selecting the colors for your bathroom may well set the mood for the remainder of your day. You may not realize how much your body reacts to colors both physically and emotionally.

Creating the right ambience in your bathroom need not be expensive or difficult if you know a few secrets.

Beneficial Bathroom Colors

Let us look at the most used colors used in bathrooms today.

Peach

Your bathroom is where you do your daily rituals such as applying your makeup, shaving and fixing your hair. The color peach is an excellent color simply because it reflects well on your skin and provides a warm and cozy feel. It makes you feel happy and protected.

Other similar colors such as yellow, cream and apricot can also be used in your bathroom as long as they are muted rather than intense. These colors tends to make your bathroom look smaller. Brown, chocolate or tan accents used for flooring and tiles completes your haven.

Green

Nature's favorite color is often used in the bathroom. Psychologically restful yet physically invigorating, it is a natural choice.

Monochromatic schemes can bring an elegant and soothing feeling to your bathroom. By using contrasting colors, such as reds, it will be vibrant and bold. Also, by bringing real plants in to your bathroom, you can feel as though you are in a garden, and it can also good for the plants.

Blue

Blue brings to mind sky and sea. It has a calming effect on the mind and body.

There are a myriad shades of blue, but a few stand out as bathroom choices. Cinder blue is a silver or gray blue. Deep arctic is a dusty navy and a tropical pastel is ocean cruise blue.

Many other colors can be used with blue, but use them wisely and sparingly. One advantage of using blue in a smaller bathroom is that makes the room appear larger.

Lighting

The lighting fixtures you choose for your bathroom can make it seem simple or elegant. Spending a little extra for a decorative light can make a big difference.

A chandelier is not only for the living room or entry way of the house. What about a fireplace? Now that is a great way to unwind at the end of the day.

Trumpe l'oeil

Find an artist in your area to come and paint a scene on your bathroom wall. Do something unconventional. It is your private place, so do whatever makes you happy and keeps your dreams alive.
