Just got word that ebooks have finally out sold hardcovers at Amazon. The Kindle has been available for only 33 months but Amazon had been selling books for fifteen years. How fast new technology takes over!
This is a hub I created last Christmas, and it is interesting to see how well it the Kindle has done.
The latest and hottest thing for Christmas is a Kindle. So what is it? Oprah has put it on her favorite things list , so it must be good. Yes, it is! Kindle is a wireless reading device that can hold up to 1500 books, weighs less than 11 ounces, and can fit in your purse or backpack.
You can have a new book downloaded to your Kindle in less than 60 seconds from the Kindle stores in nearly every country. 350,000 titles are available for less than ten dollars each, much less than what you would spend on the actual book in a bookstore. No shipping fees and no long waiting to have the reading material you want or need.
There is no glare on the screen, and it can even read to you with text-to-speech. While you are in your car, you can have Kindle read to you, and when you get to your destination, you can continue reading. No cables or wires are needed to download hundreds of books, even best sellers. You can leave your computer at home, but take Kindle with you because it is so compact and smart.
You can have your whole library with you at all times. If you have to wait in a line, you don’t have to feel that you are wasting your time. Blogs, newspapers, and magazines are available 24/7.

Thanks htood - for those of us who loved reading, the kindle is very valuable. Now that they can do much more than display pages of books, I would like to get the newer version though.

You've given me some food for thought. I wasn't interested in a Kindle because I am madly in love with the real thing. I only buy hard cover books and I have a big library, but I am running out of room. You have peaked my interest. Thanks.
