Hairy Men vs. Smooth Men
70Manly Men from my younger days
Body hair jealousy?
Probably men who are unable to grow hair are a bit jealous of those can do so easily. I have also realized that genes and culture have a lot to do with the amount of hair on a man. It’s a shame women force their men to undergo desperate means to rid them of what nature gave them to prove their manhood.
Someone the other day made a comment about guys with facial hair and several women chimed in their disapproval of stubble, beards and basically most body hair. I was surprised. I indicated that I do not prefer men with mustaches and beards, but male natural-grown body hair didn’t bother me. I stood alone in my opinion!
In our days, it seems we preferred men that looked like men. They had strong jaws and their testosterone was obvious by the amount of hair they had on their chest and face. It seems to be a common preference among girls and women today that they want their men to spend time and money to keep all the hair off.
Some women prefer feminized men. What is that about? Why do women prefer buff, waxed and fairly pretty men, and require them to be militant in their grooming habits? Maybe they prefer hairless men that haven’t passed puberty yet.
Heartthrobs of yesteryear had a steely countenance, a proliferation of chest and body hair, including mustaches and hairy chests. Seems girls nowadays prefer “beautiful men”. Maybe men today just can’t “hold” a mustache like our men did in the olden days! I see that they wax all the hair off the models nowadays, even their armpits!! Can’t anything be “natural” any more?
My personal feeling is that just as long as your man treats you with respect, the amount of hair and his appearance isn't all that important. I can see if they're sloppy and smell funny, but if they clean up well that’s fine. I guess I just like a “manly man”, as long as he’s not as hairy as an ape!
I discovered that Hairy men is a group on Facebook, so I guess there are still some out there that don’t mind the fuzz.
I guess the recent hit Twilight has caused a competition. Some women prefer the feminine male look like Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) and others like the hairy werewolf, Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner). Edward is eternally 17, not quite mature, while Jacob has definitely come of age. Okay, I admit I got caught up in the mania of “Twilight” also and personally prefer Jacob to Edward. But that is just me.
Too bad women these days won't allow their men to just be natural and sport the maleness they were blessed with.

lol! I love your hub Ruth. My husband has a couple of strands of hair on his chest--I would never ask him to shave the hair he has :). I think I may have more hair than he. I guess I take more after Jacob lol.
Is it natural to have hairy women? When did women began shaving off their hairs. I see nothing wrong with a natural women with hairy body as in female abe. LOL
Men wanting women shaved in personal areas bothers me a bit too, it's like they're imagining a prepubescent child.
A totally hairless man would make me feel like a child molester, especially after raising five boys but I admit a guy with a smooth, muscular chest is VERY appealing! The built up adult torso is so different from a boy that it's fine with or without hair.
Thank you for the enjoyable read. What a cutie baby pic. Adorable.
Hair on my face. Fluff on my chest. Fuzz round my bulging bellybutton. Anyone for tickles? :)
As a teacher I am amazed at how many of my young men shave their legs and spend a fortune on hair product. In my day homophobia would have destroyed them. But these guys are First XV rugby players and the manliest men in the school. I don't want to return to the homophobic attitudes of the 70s but get real please boys.
i am also hairy
yeah hairy shapely men are nice n attractive!
my body hair is really strange i barely got any hair on my arms and chest and i got no hair at all on my back but the further down u go the more hair, my ass is full of hair and my legs are very hairy and its long hair to, when i was a kid i became depressed cause i didnt know if the girls liked it or not now i honestly dont care what anyone thinks i am hairy hate it or love it simple i wont shave i cant say it looks nice but i am sure some women like hairy men
Your twilight comment: I found it totally the other way around: Robert Pattinson looks like the real, hair man-Whereas Taylor Lautner.....Looks like the tanned hairless guy.
Also, I don't see a problem with any of the the decisions men make: Hair or not-It can be any really. Men like to be smooth, tanned and muscley like celebs...and pretty girls like that-Girls that spend hours getting ready also want a guy to put time into his appearance. Whereas men who let their hair grow and just go out in any clothes all sweaty, they tend to have average women-Who spend a bit of time getting ready but dont tend to look like a hollywood star!
I'm glad you see it this way. I think hairless men look gay. Facial hair is probably best shaved. But the chest, legs, arms, and groin of a mature manly man ought to have hair.
I am totally hairless and petite boy
i think men without hair is nt a real men men mostly american girls dnt like hairy men i dnt know whats wrong with american in other country girls like hairy men....im hairy my frnds call me gorilla WTF im 18 i have beard chest hair arm n legs hair nuthing wrng with that hairless boys cant grow hair but hairy boy can shave there hair ;)
As a young man, I feel the need to add my two cents here. I shave most of my body hair simply because I don't like it. I simply think myself and other guys with the smooth, little-to-no body hair just look cleaner and more well groomed than a guy with a bush sprouting on his chest and elsewhere. And honestly, if I were a female I would prefer a smoother guy. Plus, as a guy, not to sound gross or anything, but sexually, it feels much more pleasurable when my girl touches my smooth, bare skin than having all that hair in the way between her hand and my chest or wherever else.
Young girls today in their early-late 20s most all do not like a lot of hair on mens chest, stomach or crotch. Leg hair, arm hair, armpit, groomed short facial hair is fine... But most guys should be trimming their chests, stomach & privates if you have too much hair. Some guys have fine good looking chest/stomach hair that doesn't need trimmed. Girls these days prefer a guy who is groomed but not hairless. Completely hairless is weird.
I am a hairy man. I have to say that it all comes down to whether or not a woman is married. Unmarried women tend to like men with no hair because they are able to take care of their body hair and they dream about that, whereas married women like the man with hair because it imparts the idea of being the "provider" and care taker of the house and someone that is a child rearer. It's an odd thing, but honestly I like my facial hair because... I can grow it. It seems like most men today either can't grow a proper beard without it being patchy or they just like the smooth look because working in offices have grown more popular. I hate Twilight and think the Jacob vs. Edward thing is a bad argument for hair because both of them are hairless Fey men. That's just my thought.
I am a 16 year old teen who is hairy from abdomen to feet, My Chest is rather smooth though.
I find myself odd going around with shorts because I seem to be very hairy. Most guys are smooth! Sometimes I'm ashamed of this and prefer to wear jeans instead of shorts.
I haven't had any comment from girls or else that put me off. The only thing was showing my feet to a pair of gals who said "wow". Dunno if it's positive or negative.
Even my father said to me that "we're men, and it's normal, it's rather stupid do try to be smooth all the time."
Shaving is needed and ok, but body hair, I just prefer to trim and groom it.
am 17 my arms and legs are hairy and i have got hairs on my chest
I have hairy legs but naturally zero hair on my chest. I have light forearm hair but not a single hair on chest. Is this normal? Someone said more hair is more testosterone. But i have a healthy libido.Does how hairy you get really depend o testosterone or is it some gene only. I mean do asians have less testosterone because they aren't as hairy.
@jai asians do naturally have less testosterone on average than a lot of other races, but its not cut and dry, a high testosterone asian and a low testosterone other could have the same or be higher, body hair is more dependent Dihydrotestosterone, which is also responsible for male baldness on the head, than testosterone itself.
but about the main article, im a real hairy guy, lots of my girlfriends like a hairy chest and arms and legs, only sticking point ive found is they all despise a hairy back and shoulders, so basically id say other than a hairy back id say just dont worry about it.
@hairybackman. By asians having less testosterone do you mean the mongoloid asians? I'm Indian, geographically in asia but we are a Caucasoid race. My father has chest hair but i don't. Also my lower body is quite hairy. Maybe i'm a chimera with different sets of genes in my upper and lower body. The Chinese generally don't have hair on legs either.

Becareful what you wish for fellas. Im hairy as an ape, and its a dam curse on so many levels.
I totally agree with you. Infact I wrote a Hub a while back about my shock and dissapointment when my boyfriend decided to try to surprise me by shaving everything off. His mates had told him that girls were into that. Eeek! No! I love natural hair on men :)
Aloha eleyne001, I have written on the striktlydatings Hub site, telling the world all about myself, I see you come from Hawaii, thats a beautiful part of the world, nice and warm, I come from Scotland U.K a lovely country but a bit colder.
I like to be natural and not shave anything apart from my face. Many years ago I met a guy when I was out cycling, I noticed he had no hairs anywhere except his head. I have got to become quite friendly with this person, Robert, but one thing I hate about him, he does not allow hairs to grow, any where, and that includes his private parts. One day when we had been out cycling we came home, and he said he wanted to show me something, this something was a complete shave down there. I said, my God you look like a little boy, he just laughed and I showed him my 100 per cent never ever having shaved cut, trimmed 'down there' he said I was like a jungle,I replied that I would prefer to have a jungle down there than look like a 8 year old boy. So even friends (we are not gay I am widowed, he is single) can be the best of friends and have different views about body hair.
Mahalo thanks for the hub Elay001, nice picture of you.

Men should look like men, not women! Viva la difference!
