Singers Who Truly Move Me

There are only a handful of singers who truly move me - I mean, I could listen to them over and over without tiring of them. They sing with their hearts, and you can feel it. They can cheer me when I am sad, or inspire me when I am lacking in faith.

Lara Fabian is an international singer from Belgium. She can sing in English, Spanish, French and Italian, and is fluent in all of them. She has also sung in Portuguese, German and Hebrew although she does not speak those languages fluently. She has a four octave vocal range. Lara sings songs in many genres and is also a songwriter. I was introduced to her when I bought her CD and heard her song entitled I Will Love Again . But when I heard her sing Adagio , I was definitely hooked.

This song, My Baby You , by Marc Anthony has special meaning for me. He wrote it for his daughter, Ariana, when she was born. He did not perform it before an audience until she was a teenager where she sat in the front row. When he did, it was a very emotional experience for he and his daughter. Okay - that was difficult to watch - through my tears, but I understand him completely.

I have one daughter, and she is very special to me. I feel about her as strongly as he did about his daughter. Love you Liana!

Andrea Bocelli had me with his song with Sarah Brightman Time to Say Goodbye. He performed with the Tabernacle Choir in Salt Lake City and sang The Lord's Prayer, and I think it is heavenly. Bocelli is the biggest-selling solo artist in the history of classical music.

Regarding his personal life, he was born in Italy close to Pisa. He was diagnosed with congenital glaucoma, and by age 12 lost his sight following a football game. He found his greatest comfort in music, and I feel he was blessed with his this special gift of singing.

Celine Dion said in 1998, that "if God would have a singing voice, he must sound a lot like Andrea Bocelli". I agree. It is perfect!
